LIBS System

Short Description:

The LIBS system generally involves the spectrometer providing a synchronous trigger signal to the laser. The laser then emits a laser beam focused onto the sample. The returning light signal is collected by the Collecting lens group within a certain time frame and directed into the multi-channel spectrometer (JINSP SR75C series). The computer processes and displays the spectral information, analyzing elements the types and contents. LIBS is based on the interaction between laser and substance. A high-energy-density laser pulse rapidly excites the sample surface to produce plasma, and the plasma’s spectrum is analyzed to obtain sample information. The entire process is very rapid, suitable for on-site quick analysis.

Advantages

●  Diversity of Element Detection: The wide spectral range from 180nm to 1100nm enables the LIBS system to detect and analyze multiple elements.

●  Accuracy of Element Detection: The high-resolution spectrometer allows the system to distinguish subtle spectral features of different elements.

●  Trace Element Detection: The high-sensitivity detector enables the LIBS system to detect trace elements at ppm (parts per million) levels.

●  Real-Time Online Element Detection: The optimal detection window occurs during the period when continuous background radiation diminishes and elemental characteristic spectral lines enhance. The equipment requires controllable delay times at the microsecond level and controllable integration times at the millisecond level.

Applications

●  Environmental Monitoring: Monitoring atmospheric pollutants and marine pollutants

●  Materials Analysis: Analysis of steel, aerospace materials, minerals, petroleum, geological exploration

●  Medical Diagnostics: Analysis of biological tissues and pharmaceuticals

●  Cultural Heritage: Analysis of ancient building materials and art authentication

●  Others: Agricultural and forestry testing, industrial sorting and recycling, pharmaceutical industry, military and defense
